The Greek philosopher Plato, who first wrote about Atlantis, described it as being located beyond the Pillars of Hercules, which some people interpret to mean that it was located somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, possibly near the Azores or the Canary Islands. Others have suggested that Atlantis was located IN the Mediterranean, possibly on the island of Santorini or in the region that is now known as the Strait of Gibraltar. I personally think it could have been an island outside of the "mouth" of the Med that fell in some sort of volcanic/tsunami/earthquake. What are your thoughts?

I have read a lot of books on Atlantis and the Azores seem to be a common theme. I don't know...before my time lol
